Champions of Change

We’re honored to have so many friends and supporters who are—and have been—instrumental in helping us fulfill our mission to help people with disabilities live full, independent lives.

During our TableScapes fundraiser, we’re recognizing two of our champions for going above and beyond in their service to CCRI.

Gate City Bank is our Business Champion of Change. Since 1923, Gate Cityhas helped create a better way of life for communities across North Dakota and Minnesota. That includes donating and volunteering generously in the communities they serve. Gate City Bankhas been donating to CCRI since 2004, and over the last 20 years, has contributed more than $137,000 to our mission to improve the lives of people with disabilities. This includes a $100,000 Giving Hearts Day donation in 2023 when Gate City Bankcelebrated their 100-year anniversary! In addition to financial contributions, Gate City Bankvolunteers have helped us with everything from making meals and handing out treats during our Candy Crawl to setting up and serving at our block party. In addition, Heather Rye, Gate City Banks chief human resources officer, is CCRI’s board vice-president, and she has served on our board for six years.

Dr. Kevin Anderson is our Individual Champion of Change. Kevin is an assistant professor at the University of Mary, where he serves as program coordinator of occupational therapy at the Fargo satellite location. Many CCRI clients have been involved in STAMP (So That All May Participate), the university’s student volunteer program, several years. Kevin is also an occupational therapist, teacher of physical impairments and developmental/cognitive disabilities, and an assistive technology consultant. He founded AIM Therapy, which stands for achieving independence and meaning. This private occupational therapy practice serves people of all ages and ability levels in home and community settings in the Fargo–Moorhead area. Through his work in occupational therapy over the last 38 years, Kevin has helped numerous CCRI clients learn to work through obstacles to reach their goals, whether they need help eating, leaving the house, or accomplishing basic tasks. Besides speaking and consulting in the Fargo–Moorhead area, Kevin has also presented nationally on various topics related to developmental and physical disabilities.
